Acclaimed actor and comedian
Kevin Nealon will bring his distinctive sense of humor, dry wit and likeable demeanor to the Suncoast Showroom this weekend, February 20 and 21.
Nealon may be best known for his nine-year stint as a cast member of NBC's "Saturday Night Live," and has received critical acclaim for his role in the popular Showtime series "Weeds."
As one of the longest-running cast members on "SNL" (1986-1995), Nealon created some of the show's most memorable characters, including "The Subliminal Man" and "Hans and Franz. He was also well known for his recurring role as an anchor on "Weekend Update." In 1988, he earned an Emmy Award nomination as part of the "SNL" writing team.
For more than 100 episodes, Nealon played stoned accountant and business advisor,
Doug Wilson, on the hit series "Weeds." The show was honored with multiple award nominations including Golden Globes nominations for "Best Television Series Comedy or Musical" and nominations from the Screen Actors Guild for an "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series."
A sought-after guest star on television, Nealon has made a number of appearances on "Monk," "Fat Actress," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Still Standing." In late 2009, Nealon's one hour stand-up special, "
Kevin Nealon: Now Hear Me Out!" aired on Showtime. Recent guest spots include roles on "Drunk History," "The League," "Franklin & Bash" and "Hot in Cleveland."
Nealon has also been a featured comedic player on the big screen. In "Just Go With It," he played opposite
Jennifer Aniston and fellow "SNL" comedian
Adam Sandler. Nealon and Sandler also teamed up in "Anger Management," "Eight Crazy Nights," "The Wedding Singer," "Happy Gilmore" and "You Don't Mess with the Zohan." In "Joe Dirt," Nealon joined another "SNL" alumnus,
David Spade. Nealon's additional film credits include "Daddy Day Care" with
Eddie Murphy, "Good Boy" with
Molly Shannon, "Roxanne" with
Steve Martin and the cult hit "Grandma's Boy" with
Jonah Hill and Nick Swardson.
In 2008, Nealon released the book, "Yes, You're Pregnant, But What About Me?" - a comical look at the male perspective of pregnancy. In 2012, Nealon released a comedy special DVD/CD "Whelmed... But Not Overly."
