The production begins on March 19, 2025.
Open-Door Playhouse will continue to present short plays in podcast form. The Playhouse is presenting a new play, Brother Emmanuel's Excellent Idea, starting March 19, 2025 online at http://opendoorplayhouse.org
This comedic piece is set in a monastery sometime around the year 1455. We find Brother Emmanuel sharing his need for a respite from the tedium and unrelenting monotony of copying sacred scripts by hand, work not fit for God or man. To which his colleague, Brother Xavier, argues the need for the historic documents for the future, charges him with blasphemy for Brother Emmanuel to consider such an idea.
Bernadette Armstrong directs Daamen Krall as Brother Emanuel and Kevin Carr as Brother Xavier.
Rich Rubin is the playwright. A member of the Dramatists Guild, the Portland, Oregon-based writer is exceptionally prolific and the recipient of multiple awards for his work. His previous plays include Picasso in Paris, Caesar's Blood, Chekhov's Premiere, Clinton's Summit, Kafka's Joke, September Twelfth, and many more.
