Off Strip Productions, the Onyx Theatre's resident theatre company, presents The Weird by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics. The limited run begins Thursday, February 19, at the Onyx Theatre in Commercial Center and plays through March 7. The show is directed by Producing Director Troy Heard.

A tongue-in-cheek homage to the old Tales from the Crypt comic books, The Weird consists of six short plays hosted by M.T. Graves, a ridiculous blend of the Cryptkeeper and Paul Lynde. "If you have a fondness for horror, this is the show for you," says Heard. "The Weird is such a fun little script, with playlets inspired by movies such as The Fly and Halloween. It's also theatrically clever: the short titled The Ten-Minute Play About Rosemary's Baby mashes up Polanski's film with the plays of Edward Albee."

The Weird is a campy tour de force for its seven person cast. "As the cast triples up on characters, they have to swing from such diverse styles as 80s slasher flick to Tennessee Williams-esque drippy drama," says Heard. "Portraying multiple roles through the show is part of the fun. It also gives the cast time to wash off the requisite blood and gore."

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays, Feburary 19 through March 7 at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinee at 2 pm. Tickets are $20.00 and are available through the Onyx Box Office or on www.onyxtheatre.com. Performances of The Weirdwill be at the Onyx Theatre, located at 953 E. Sahara Ave. #16 in Commercial Center, Las Vegas, NV.
