Nevada Ballet Theatre, is gearing up for its annual presentation of one of Las Vegas' favorite and most treasured holiday traditions, The Nutcracker. Starting today the larger-than-life set pieces, including the one-of-a-kind and original 40 foot dollhouse is being resurrected inside Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts (video included below). The eight-show run features a full orchestra performed by Members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and will kick off this weekend on Saturday, December 12. Nevada Ballet Theatre has been performing this classic production for over 30 years but in 2012 debuted an all-new version choreographed by the company's Artistic Director, James Canfield. Some additional facts about this incredible production include:

  • This version of The Nutcracker is the first production of its kind built specifically for the Reynolds Hall stage.
  • NBT's The Nutcracker is a monumental production featuring a life sized Victorian dollhouse, 30 ft. tall Christmas tree, doors and grandfather clocks that are all over 15 ft. tall.
  • Audiences will enjoy artistic and technical elements such as waltzing flowers, a flying rocking horse, and moonlit snow to create the magical landscape of the production, hailed as "the most visually beautiful production ever staged in Reynolds Hall."
  • The company's Nutcracker features students from NBT's affiliated Academy and Education and Outreach program, Future Dance, which complement this cast and crew of approximately 100.

Tickets start at $29 plus fees and can be ordered by calling The Smith Center Box Office at 702.749.2000 or by visiting www.nevadaballet.org. Both evening and matinee performances are available.
