Award-winning actress and singer Liza Minnelli is bringing back a favored tradition from the days of old Vegas with her upcoming "Gypsy" performance following her Thursday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Nov. 25 engagement at the Luxor Theater.

Made popular by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., these shows were held only for fellow performers, affectionately known as "gypsies," in the early morning hours long after the audiences had left. Holding true to this format, Liza's "Gypsy" performance is scheduled for 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26 in the Luxor Theater. Luxor will distribute complimentary tickets, reserved solely for Las Vegas entertainers and their crew, to show company managers within the coming weeks.

"There is no better performer to bring the Gypsy show back to Las Vegas than Liza. She helped originate the tradition and we expect an overwhelming response from local entertainers," said Felix Rappaport, President and COO of Luxor.

Originally slated for only three shows in October, strong sales prompted Minnelli to add another weekend of incredible performances at Luxor, Thursday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Nov. 25. Performances are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale and priced at $90, $75 and $55 plus tax and handling fees at the Luxor Box Office outlets.

Minnelli has won every major entertainment accolade including an Oscar, a Tony, an Emmy and a Grammy. When Minnelli received the Grammy Legend Award she became part of a select group of performers who have won entertainment's top four awards. Those awards included the Oscar for her performance as Sally Bowles in the movie "Cabaret," the Emmy for the TV special, "Liza with a Z" and two Tony Awards: a special Tony in 1974 and a second Tony, for The Act. Additionally, she was honored with the Academy Award for the role of Pookie Adams in "The Sterile Cuckoo."

Minnelli joins the star-studded line-up of Luxor's Spotlight Series. Tickets for the Spotlight Series can be purchased at the Luxor Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. To charge by phone call the Luxor Box Office at (800) 557-7428 or (702) 262-4400 or order online at www.luxor.com. The Luxor Theater is a 1,500‑seat venue.
