"Mike & Molly" audiences left wanting more after the series finale airs in May can catch their beloved Officer Mike Biggs, husband to Molly Flynn (Melissa McCarthy), with his first love: stand up comedy. CBS' hit television series is scheduled to conclude this spring after more than 100 episodes, but Billy Gardell will return to the Treasure Island Theatre June 10 at 9 p.m.
A long time "road dog" of standup, 17-year-old Gardell first stepped onstage at the Bonkerz comedy club after his coworkers bet him $50 that he wouldn't do an open mic night. That first taste of stand up got him hooked, and he performed regionally and then nationally for more than twenty years. Gardell credits his long road to Hollywood with honing his grounded, down-to-earth point of view. His powerhouse stand up show draws relatable humor from his rough childhood, wild adolescence and new family life.
Gardell has already found his next television project playing Elvis' manager, the infamous Col. Tom Parker, in CMT's upcoming miniseries "Million Dollar Quartet." He is also nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy award for his work as the host of the syndicated "Monopoly Millionaires' Club."
Prior to "Mike & Molly," Gardell had a recurring role on "Yes Dear" as Billy Colavita and on "My Name Is Earl" as Officer Hoyne. He co-starred on the critically acclaimed "Lucky" with John Corbett and Craig Robinson, and appeared on "Judging Amy," "Bones," "The Practice," "Desperate Housewives," "Monk" and "The King of Queens," among others. He has also lent his voice to "Phineas and Ferb," "Family Guy" and "Gary the Rat."
The Pittsburgh native's film credits include "Jersey Boys," "You, Me & Dupree" and the Coen Brothers' "Bad Santa." He also makes appearances in the upcoming films "Undrafted" and "Going Under" opposite Bruce Willis and John Goodman.
His comedy special "Billy Gardell: Halftime," premiered on Comedy Central and three "Billy Gardell Presents: Road Dogs" specials aired on Showtime.
