The Las Vegas Philharmonic and Music Director Donato Cabrera announced the 2017 - 2018 concert season today, which will include 13 performances from September 9, 2017 - May 19, 2018 at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
This will be the orchestra's 19th concert season and Donato Cabrera's 4th season as Music Director for the Las Vegas Philharmonic. The upcoming season includes 15 never performed works by the Las Vegas Philharmonic including John Adams's Common Tones in Simple Time, Leonard Bernstein's Fancy Free: Three Dance Variations and C.P.E. Bach's Cello Concerto in A Major.
In November, the orchestra honors the culture and spirit of Mexico and the American Southwest performing works by Aaron Copland and Silvestre Revueltas, funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the "Music Unwound" initiative. In addition, the orchestra features four of its own principal musicians including Cory Tiffin (clarinet), Kimberly Glennie (harp), Stephen Caplan (oboe), and Andrew Smith (cello), as guest soloists and collaborates with chorus-in-residence, the Las Vegas Master Singers in the Las Vegas Philharmonic's performances of Handel's Messiah and Orff's Carmina Burana.
Back by popular demand, Pink Martini performs with members of the Philharmonic on Reynolds Hall stage for an exclusive gala concert experience, which will include a pre-concert silent auction, dinner, live auction and more.
Cabrera shares, "I'm thrilled to lead the orchestra in its 19th season and take pride in the fact that we'll be showcasing some of the talent right here in our own backyard by spotlighting members of the orchestra as soloists while we perform great works we all know and love, masterpieces never before played here and continue our exploration of new music. As always, patrons can expect the unexpected."
Subscriptions to the new season start at just $110 and go on sale Monday, April 17, 2017 through The Smith Center Box Office. Music Director Donato Cabrera and special guests will continue to host pre-concert conversations one hour prior to each performance in Reynolds Hall to discuss the works to be performed and the history behind the music (no pre-concert conversations for two of the performances - December 2, 2017 matinee and March 3, 2018 evening).
Ticket pricing in the 2017-18 season will stay consistent with the 2016-17 season pricing. Subscribers save 10% when they renew before June 5, 2017 and can choose among three different concert packages at five different price points. In addition, subscribers can purchase additional single tickets with their subscription order at the 10% discount.
The Las Vegas Philharmonic will continue to offer its shuttle bus services from its Henderson and Summerlin locations in Las Vegas to its Reynolds Hall evening performances during the 2017-18 concert season.

The Las Vegas Philharmonic, led by Music Director, Donato Cabrera, established its presence in Southern Nevada in 1998. The mission of the organization is to perform music that enriches and educates, helping to build a vibrant, culturally rich community.
Music education and outreach are the cornerstones of the Philharmonic's commitment to community. Our Youth Concert Series brings more than 19,000 children annually into the concert hall for a vital music education program, and our Cox Communications Young Artists' Concerto Competition recognizes and encourages emerging talent among Nevada youth in the area of music performance.
Our season of concerts showcases local talents alongside stellar nationally and internationally known guest artists on the magnificent Reynolds Hall stage. At the orchestra's core are 76 contracted professional musicians, many of whom are esteemed educators who also perform in other professional productions in Las Vegas, bringing depth and variety to the organization.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Philharmonic's community, education and artistic programs are made possible by the generous donations and support of individuals and corporations. To join us in our mission or learn more, visit lvphil.org or call 702.258.5438.
