The Performing Arts Center at UNLV, Southern Nevada's longstanding performing arts venue for more than 40 years, recently announced its 2016-17 season, including the acclaimed Charles Vanda Master Series, The Allegro Guitar Series at UNLV, and the UNLV Chamber Music Series.

Special Event: Home Free, Dec. 4

The PAC welcomes Home Free in a very special event Dec. 4. Country vocal quintet and season four champion of NBC's "The Sing-Off", Home Free performs on Wrangler NFR rodeo weekend. Their high-energy country show, peppered with quick-witted humor, is the perfect prelude to an evening of rodeo action.

The Performing Arts Center Season is also pleased to welcome:

  • Nov. 12 - Hiromi: The Trio Project
  • Jan 24 - the playful, entertaining all-male parody of classical ballet - Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo
  • March 11 - the Sons of Serendip. Serendipity brought them together at Boston University and brought them back together to audition for Season 9 of America's Got Talent. Their beautiful sound is created by four artists with a harp, a piano, a cello, and a voice, and their number one goal is to connect with and inspire their audience through music.

Charles Vanda Master Series

  • Oct. 22 - The Charles Vanda Master Series opens with the Mozart Orchestra of New York. Acclaimed as an outstanding ensemble of distinguished musicians, the New York Chamber Soloists joined forces with innovative music director Gerard Schwarz to perform an all-Mozart program.
  • Feb. 18 - classical crossover artists Simply Three, who mix the pure sounds of violin, cello, and bass with melodies from popular music
  • March 25 - Piano Battle: Andreas Kern vs. Paul Cibis. Armed with distinctly different performance styles, Kern and Cibis take turns performing pieces by composers such as Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy. Ultimately, the audience decides who wins!

Allegro Guitar Series

  • Oct. 15 - The Allegro Guitar Series at UNLV features Ana Vidovic
  • Feb. 17 - Grammy Award-winner David Russell, who appears in halls all over the world, leaving audiences awestruck with his provocative, lyrical performances
  • March 30 - Ben Verdery, the artistic director of the Art of Guitar in New York, a prolific, published composer, and an innovative and eclectic classical guitarist.

Chamber Music Series

The PAC celebrates the UNLV Chamber Music Series as it enters its fifth season, and is presented in conjunction with the UNLV School of Music.

  • Sept. 29 - The opening concert features internationally renowned guitarist Ricardo Cobo, flutist Jennifer Grim, cellist Andrew Smith, and pianist Christina Wright-Ivanova with a program from Spain, Argentina, and Italy.
  • Nov. 1 - Boston Brass, with their exciting classical arrangements, burning jazz standards, and the best of the brass quintet repertoire
  • Feb. 9 - Hungarian Masterworks performing Liszt, Bartok, Kodaly, and Brahms
  • April 6 - the fearlessly imaginative Ying Quartet. The Washington Postdescribed The Ying Quartet as where "Sheer agony and triumphant beauty intersect."

The UNLV Performing Arts Center also continues its Design Your Own Series program, offering patrons an early opportunity to select a variety of shows at a discounted price. Included are the many benefits of subscribing, such as early notice about UNLV Performing Arts Center offerings, and discounts to bring friends and family. Excellent seats are available, as these purchases are processed before individual tickets go on sale.

It hosts a variety of performances and events and is home to productions presented by the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, UNLV School of Music, UNLV Dance, Desert Chorale and the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society. The UNLV PAC is also pleased to host various Clark County School District Fine Arts festivals and concerts.
