Hawaiian reggae artists, The Green, come to Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip with special guests Natural Vibrations and Billy Van on Sunday, November 4.
Formed in Oahu, Hawaii in 2009, The Green blends roots reggae with traditional Hawaiian vibes. Lead singer Caleb Keolanui is a soulful young performer with an amazingly high vocal range and is often referred to as the “harmony master.” Guitarist J.P. Kennedy also adds vocals to the group and has been described as “powerful” and “captivating.” Ikaika Antone has perfected his skills on the keyboard and continues to be a featured musician in many of Hawaii’s top contemporary bands. Singer and guitarist Zion Thompson has performed throughout much of the United States. Together, they all contribute key elements that create The Green’s unforgettable sound.
The Green’s music has the traditional driving drum and bass sound that is quintessential to reggae music. Their self-titled debut album, The Green reached number three on the Billboard’s Reggae Chart and remained in the Top 10 for 25 weeks. It was also named iTunes Best Reggae Album of 2010 and has sold over 16,000 copies. The Green was rewarded Best Reggae Album at the 2011 Hawaii Music Awards and played three shows in February supporting Nas & Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley on the Distant Relatives Tour.
