Stage Door Entertainment, in conjunction with Super Summer Theatre, is pleased to announce the next in a series of 6 free dance workshops leading up to the March auditions for West Side Story, to be performed at Super Summer Theatre in 2009.

West Side Story, the world's greatest love story, takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" is transported to 1950's New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

FREE DANCE WORKSHOPS WILL BE HELD:
Saturday, January 24
Saturday, February 21

These workshops, led by the show's Choreographer, Evan Litt, are intended to help broaden the familiarity of local talent with the style and skill level of the choreography of the production, as well as allow actors to self-assess their performance and the need for any additional dance training.

All workshops are 100% free and open to the public. No registration is required. Attendance is only limited by the space limitations of the studio.

WEST SIDE WORKSHOP #5
Saturday, January 24, 2009, 3:00-6:00pm

Backstage II Dance Studio
3425 Backstage Boulevard
Las Vegas, NV 89121
(please do not call the studio)

The workshops are 100% free. Studio rental is provided by Stage Door Entertainment and Super Summer Theatre.

Anyone may attend, male or female, any age, any ethnicity. Please be advised, however, that male roles in the show range from teen to 65, and that female roles range from teen to 35. All are invited to attend.

The workshops are individual units, giving you the flexibility to attend just one or two or all six workshops if you prefer. There is no registration, simply walk right in.

Attending the workshop does not guarantee placement in the show. Casting is based solely on your performance at the auditions and/or callbacks for the show. These workshops are intended to prepare you for the level of choreography planned for the show.

Jazz shoes are preferred, but not required. Studios oftentimes do not like use of sneakers as they may scuff the floors. Flexible knee pads are also recommended, as there is some work on the knees, and this will reduce the impact.

Call (702) 581-5008 with any additional questions.
