Flight to Mars, a tribute to 1970's English rockers UFO featuring Pearl Jam lead guitarist, Mike McCready, comes to the Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip Wednesday, May 16th.
Legendary grunge-rock veteran Mike McCready has been a force to be reckoned with for over two decades as lead guitarist of Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam is a very philanthropic band and all of the members of the band dabble in their own side projects. For the past decade Mike McCready's side project has been performing with Flight to Mars. The band has held annual Seattle benefit concerts raising funding and awareness for CCFA's Camp Oasis and Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness. Each year they have celebrated successful community involvement and sold-out shows, and have decided to take their show on the road to gain even more awareness and raise additional funds for CCFA.
Ten years ago Mike McCready made public his 20-year battle with Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis and has since become very dedicated to the cause. Proceeds from this tour will benefit Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America's (CCFA) Camp Oasis and Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness.
Concert-goers are invited to hang out with fellow fans at an exclusive VIP pre-concert fundraiser. Attendees have a chance to catch the sound check and mingle with Mike McCready and other members of Flight to Mars. This fundraiser is hosted by the Wishlist Foundation – a grassroots, Pearl Jam fan-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Pearl Jam's charitable and philanthropic goals.
