For veteran Broadway actor Donnie Kehr, JERSEY BOYS has been an interesting and enviable ride. He appeared in the very first production of the show in La Jolla, under the direction of Des McAnuff, where he originated the role of Gyp DeCarlo.
He then created the role of Norma Waxman in the original Broadway cast. He also appeared as Waxman in last year's film of the hit show, directed by Clint Eastwood and released via Warner Brothers.
Kehr, who has appeared in such Broadway musicals as BILLY ELLIOT, The Who's TOMMY, Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA, THE HUMAN COMEDY and others, began ROCKERS ON BROADWAY (with Pete Townsend in 1993); the annual sold-out charity concert where performers from the Great White Way appear and have a chance to rock-out. They have honored such performers as Debbie Gibson, Monkee-Micky Dolenz; radio-personality-Bruce Morrow, Rupert Holmes, Paul Williams and Frankie Valli and many others.
Kehr also fronts a performing act called "Donnie Kehr's Rockin' Dueling Piano's". Donnie's return to The Paris is a homecoming of sort. Having debuted "Dueling Pianos" at The Paris back in 2004, Kehr feels his return to The Strip in JERSEY BOYS and among the variety of Sin City's top notch variety acts, is the perfect way to kick off 2016.
