Actor, comedian and former "Saturday Night Live (SNL)" cast member Norm Macdonald will bring his stand-up act to The Orleans Showroom on Jan. 15.
Macdonald got his start in the industry writing for "Roseanne" and "The Dennis Miller Show" before earning a spot on the "SNL" writing staff in 1993. Soon after, "SNL" creator
Lorne Michaels gave Macdonald an opportunity to read on-air editorials during "Weekend Update" and within a year, he became the anchor of the popular segment. Macdonald was also well-known for his impressions of
Burt Reynolds and Bob Dole on the show in addition to his "Weekend Update" performances.
Elsewhere on television, Macdonald appeared in the ABC sitcom "Norm" and the FOX series "A Minute with Stan Hooper." He has voiced characters on several shows including "Family Guy" and "The Fairly Odd Parents." On Comedy Central, Macdonald appeared in the 2005 special "Back to Norm" and hosted "Sports Show with Norm Macdonald" in 2011. Recently, he guest-starred on numerous episodes of ABC's "The Middle."
On film, Macdonald has appeared in "Dirty Work," "Screwed" and "Billy Madison." He can be heard as Lucky the dog in three "Dr. Doolittle" films, Buster the fox in "Christmas is Here Again," and as a penguin in fellow comedian
Bob Saget's film "Farce of the Penguins."
In May 2015, Macdonald performed the final stand-up act on the "Late Show with
David Letterman," bringing the show to a close after nearly 22 years on-air. Macdonald also joined
Keenen Ivory Wayans and
Roseanne Barr on the ninth season of "Last Comic Standing" as a judge, quickly becoming infamous for his direct yet hilarious critiques.
