Comedian and actor Aries Spears will bring his signature quick wit and energetic stand-up comedy routine back to the Suncoast Showroom May 28 and 29.

Spears' comedy career began as a 14-year-old growing up in New York City, where he'd make stand-up appearances at clubs in his hometown. His big break came in 1987 with his appearances on Russell Simmons' "Def Comedy Jam" on HBO and "Showtime at the Apollo."

Spears moved to Los Angeles in 1992 and landed a recurring role on NBC's "A Different World." Two years later, he branched out to the big screen with a role in "Home of Angels." In 1996, he was cast as Cuba Gooding Jr.'s brother in the blockbuster hit "Jerry Maguire."

Spears is well-known for his celebrity impressions, most notably Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Robert De Niro, who he portrayed on the sketch comedy show "MADtv." Spears was a regular cast member from 1997-2005 and was credited with one of the show's most popular bits, "Talkin' American." At the end of his "MADtv" career, Spears released "I Ain't Scared," a two-disc comedy album featuring his original stand-up show and prank phone calls.

In 2006, Spears teamed up with Damon Wayans to create "The Underground," a Showtime series reminiscent of the 1990s Emmy Award-winning comedy show "In Living Color." The series featured a mix of recurring sketch characters, parodies and behind-the-scenes glimpses. Spears' most recent stand-up special, the 2011 Showtime hit "Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I'm Smiling," gave his take on the hypocrisies of modern society.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35 plus tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office, by calling 702.284.7777, or by visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
