Boyd Gaming Corporation today announced the completion of a sweeping redesign and renovation of the California Hotel and Casino, giving an entirely new look and feel to one of Downtown Las Vegas's favorite gaming destinations.

"The extensive redesign has given the Ninth Island a modern and appealing new appearance, while still maintaining what our guests have loved about The Cal for more than 40 years: a commitment to excellent customer service," said Steve Thompson, Executive Vice President, Operations of Boyd Gaming.

Redesign work has touched nearly every corner of the property, including an all-new modern casino floor. Overall design elements include a decidedly modern color palette of grey and white, mixed with bright splashes of magenta, and an open, airy structural design throughout. The casino floor was transformed with a distinctive, modern island vibe from floor to ceiling, including new carpet, molding, shining chandeliers and more. The valet area greets guests with its refined new look, accented with smooth wood paneling across the ceiling, shiny finishes and a dramatic, lush plant wall on the west end, accented by back-lit silver sign that reads "Mahalo." Just inside the magenta valet doors is the hotel registration area, updated with white granite, gilded recessed ceilings and shimmering gold and crystal light fixtures.

In addition, three new food and beverage concepts premiered at the California in 2016. The luau-inspired Holo Holo - The Happy Bar; the Cal Sports Lounge, an exciting hybrid of a race and sports book and an immersive sports bar; and Redwood Steakhouse, a modernization of the property's classic steakhouse. Aloha Specialties, the must-visit outlet for authentic Hawaiian cuisine like saimin and oxtail stew, saw a complete renovation of its restaurant space, while maintaining its much-loved menu of favorites.

Most recently, work began on updating and modernizing 435 guest rooms and 56 suites in the hotel's west tower. The well-appointed rooms featured new furniture, carpet, fixtures and more, and echo the contemporary color palette and subtle island influence of the property's overall design. The guest room project will complete in early 2017.

The renovations at the California Hotel and Casino are part of an ongoing effort to enhance Boyd Gaming properties across the country. For more information on this and other projects, visit BoydGaming.com/Amenities.
