Grammy-nominated and chart-topping guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd returns to The Orleans Showroom February 26 and 27, starting at 8 p.m. each evening.
No stranger to the spotlight, Kenny Wayne Shepherd was signed to a major record label at age 16. Bursting on to the music scene with the release of Ledbetter Heights in 1995, Shepherd's debut album reached platinum status with such hits as "Deja Voodoo," "Born With A Broken Heart" and "Aberdeen."
His follow-up album, 1997's Trouble Is, featured "Somehow, Someway," "Everything Is Broken," "Slow Ride" and the record-breaking No. 1 hit "Blue on Black," which remained at the top of the rock charts for 17 consecutive weeks. Live On was released two years later, and brought Shepherd his second Grammy nomination. After five years of relentless touring and building his fan base, Shepherd recorded his fourth album in 2004, The Place You're In.
In 2007, Shepherd released a full-length documentary with an accompanying album entitled 10 Days Out: Blues From The Backroads. The film follows Shepherd and his friends on a ten-day trek into the heart of America visiting blues veterans at their homes, and features some of the most renowned blues artists of all time including
B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Pinetop Perkins.
In addition to a string of No. 1 hits, Shepherd has received four Grammy nominations, two Billboard Music Awards, two Orville H. Gibson Awards and a Blues Music Award among other accolades.
