Broadway show tunes invokes timeless emotion and, surrounded by the beauty of Southern Nevada, "Brunch To Broadway: Blockbusters" brings the song-filled matinee to the Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa with two performances on Jan. 14.
"Brunch To Broadway: Blockbusters" showcases the vocal talents of an ensemble of celebrated vocalists whose combined professional experience spans the Las Vegas Strip, Broadway stages, television, movies and touring productions. It celebrates the Las Vegas performing arts community and January performances will benefit the Positively Arts Foundation.
Produced by Tony Award nominees Robert Torti and DeLee Lively-Torti, the desire was to offer a matinee with an optional brunch (before or after the show). On the Las Vegas Strip, Robert closed a four-year run in "Rock of Ages" and received a Tony Award nomination for "Starlight Express," his Broadway debut. DeLee was nominated for a Tony Award for "Smokey Joe's Café." They have performed in other Broadway shows including "A Chorus Line," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Dreamgirls," "Reefer Madness The Musical" and "Grand Hotel."
Backed by a five-piece band, some of the numbers from classic and contemporary shows to be featured include "Annie Get Your Gun," "Wicked," "Hairspray," "Spamalot," "Kinky Boots," "Dear Evan Hansen," "Guys and Dolls," "Rent" and "Smokey Joe's Café." Other performers will join them on stage including Ashley Fuller, Nakaze Harris, Brandon Nix, Eric Jordan Young and Angela Chan with the all-star band of Rob Mader, Alex Stopa, Andrew Chute and Scott Teeple. Katelyn Murphy of the Positively Arts Foundation will also perform.
The Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa is an intimate venue for an afternoon of Broadway tunes in a high energy, fun-filled, family friendly 50-minute, show. The Feast Buffet (additional charge) offers live cooking stations and Italian, American, Chinese, sushi and other international specialties.
Additional performances are scheduled for Jan. 28, Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 25. Future shows will benefit Broadway In the Hood and Broadway Bound.
"Brunch To Broadway: Blockbusters" will be performed at noon and 2 p.m. on Jan. 14. Tickets are available online, at the Red Rock Rewards Center and at the door for $20 or with a Buffet Pass for $32 per person (ticketing fee not included).
