Blue Man Group will rock out for Dr. Phil in an episode airing on Thursday, Oct. 2 (check local listings). Blue Man Group performs as part of an episode themed to demonstrate how people can reduce stress in everyday life.
Blue Man Group incorporates several different types of percussion into its live shows and research has shown listening to the sounds of drums can help reduce an individual's stress levels. The variety of musical styling
Blue Man Group uses makes it a perfect example of how to use music to reduce stress.
According to the federation of Drums and Percussion, drumming can help people express and address emotional issues. Unexpressed feelings and emotions can form energy blockages and the physical stimulation of drumming removes blockages and produces an emotional release. Also, drumming induces deep relaxation and lowers blood pressure. More importantly, it helps reduce stress which, according to current medical research, is the primary cause of such life-threatening illnesses as heart attacks, strokes, and immune system breakdowns.
Each member of the Dr. Phil audience was presented with two free tickets to
Blue Man Group's show at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, as well as Blue Man's How to Be a Megastar Live! to be released on Blu-Ray November 4.
The Dr. Phil show is in its seventh season, and since its launch in September 2002, has been the second highest rated daytime talk show. The daily viewership for the audience averages six million.
