Hip-hop duo Atmosphere will take the stage at Mandalay Bay Beach this summer in a special one-night performance on Friday, August 24 as part of Mandalay Bay's Concerts on the Beach 2018 summer lineup sponsored by Coors Light and Pepsi. The group will be joined by Samoan reggae singer J Boog. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m.
Atmosphere, composed of rapper Slug and DJ/Producer Ant, started their careers stepping beyond genre lines and performing throughout the Twin Cities with rock bands, punk rock bands, and jazz ensembles. Atmosphere began to apply many of these tactics and work ethics to their growth and have developed a fan base that extends to an alternative audience who also related to the personable appeal and emotional range of both Slug's songwriting and Ant's musical backdrops. As Atmosphere steps into their 21st year of making music, Slug and Ant show no signs of slowing, compromising or losing sight of their vision. Last week, in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the band's iconic Sad Clown Summer, Fall, Winter & Spring EPs, Atmosphere released a complete vinyl package for the first time ever, featuring 20 songs including fan favorites like "Don't Forget," "The Rooster" and "Sunshine."
J Boog (Jerry Afemata) is a reggae singer of Samoan descent who has toured the world gaining fans of all backgrounds with his message that music is the only universal tongue. His most recent EP "Rose Petals" (2016) peaked the US Billboards & iTunes charts at No. 1 & was nominated for Best Reggae Album of the Year at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards. It featured hip hop mogul Snoop Dogg & six time GRAMMY Award winner Stephen "Ragga" Marley. J Boog released Wash House Ting, his third studio album, in November 2016.
The Mandalay Bay Beach stage, which rises over the Four Diamond resort's sand and surf wave pool, has hosted entertainment's biggest names as part of the fan-favorite series. Concert-goers are invited to enjoy musical performances which perfectly complement the warm season as they sip on cocktails, sink their toes in the sand and wade in the water at Mandalay Bay's 1.6-million-gallon wave pool.
The Beachfront Experience at Mandalay Bay Beach's Concerts on the Beach series is returning for the second year during select events. This premier experience grants guests access to an exclusive area on the Beach which includes lounge chair seating, cocktail service and premium viewing of the show. Guests also will receive expedited entry into the venue.
Tickets start at $40 (plus applicable service fees) and go on sale Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at MandalayBay.com or Ticketmaster.com.
