The Broadway Company will present Broadway Boot Camp, a new workshop for Broadway-bound actors of all ages that will next be held in Las Vegas.
The workshop will take place at Backstage Dance Studio, which is located at 2330 San Jose in Las Vegas. The Boot Camp will be offered for the following two sessions: Session 1 - January 23-27 (M-F), 6-9 PM and Session 2, January 28-29 (Sat-Sun), 10 AM - 6:30 PM. The cost for the first session is $575.00 per person and $595.00 per person for the second session (includes a catered lunch).
The instructors of the workshop will come direct from the New York stage where they have been seen in shows such as The Lion King, La Boheme, Les Miserables and Cats, among others. The curriculum, presented by Broadway veterans Adam Hunter and David Barrus, will contain intensive sessions on sharpening audition skills, perfecting headshots and resumes, one-on-one vocal coaching, and introductions to casting directors and agents. "This intensive workshop will be packed with priceless information, valuable tips, and one-on-one guidance and personal coaching," according to press notes.The Broadway Company's Program Director, Dave Barrus explains, "Our promise to our students is that we will do everything in our power to give them the tools necessary to excel in the world of musical theater, whether it is on Broadway or elsewhere."
The special guest for the Las Vegas sessions will be Alice Ripley. Ripley has appeared on Broadway in Sunset Boulevard, The Who's Tommy, The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce's The Dead and Side Show, for which she and co-star Emily Skinner shared a 1998 Tony Award nomination for creating the roles of Siamese Twins Violet and Daisy Hilton. Ripley also toured as Fantine in Les Miserables, created the role of Bathsheba in the Alan Menken/Tim Rice concert musical King David at the newly-renovated New Amsterdam theater and played Daisy Mae in the Encores! production of Lil Abner. Ripley, who fronts a band called RIPLEY, has performed on the Tony Awards, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The Today Show, Late Night with David Letterman, and The Kennedy Center Honors.
