Once Upon A Mattress, Leawood Stage Company’s outdoor summer family musical, is based on the Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tale “The Princess and The Pea” with a hilarious spin. Princess Winnifred actually swims the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales the same way again. It wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night. Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, the familiar classic tale of royal courtship provides for some side-splitting shenanigans.
