Lawrence Opera Theatre (LOT) returns to the popular speakeasy club, John Brown's Underground just off Massachussetts Street in Downtown Lawrence. This free program is one of several offered by LOT prior to the start of it's 7th Summer Festival. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of The Bard, and LOT celebrates the lasting legacy of the world's greatest playwright in Shakespeare 400, which runs August 5-14, 2016. The season features performances of Shakespeare's words set to music in opera scenes, art song, and musical theatre. The festival will culminate in a fully-staged production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
At this event, five of LOT's talented singers will present a varied program, featuring songs and arias from works based on the Bard's words, characters and plays. The music shows off the versatility of LOT's singers, who are as comfortable singing an opera aria, a piece from musical theatre, or a pop song. Come and enjoy some of John Brown's interesting cocktails to chill out with some great music.
Singers: Katherine Dick, Anna Patterson, Demi Renault, Jake Chris Walters
Pianist: Kyle Naig
