In 1788, Mozart stood at the pinnacle of his greatness. He had been commissioned as “composer to the imperial-royal” of Emperor Joseph II, his genius was known throughout the Western world, and he was entering the most prolific period of his career. Less than four years later, he was dead. This performance explores Mozart’s final years through the lens of his incredible output during that period, including music from his Symphonies 39-41, from the operas Cosi fan tutte and The Magic Flute, and some of his most distinctive solo works.
