Out To Lunch Festival presents
Once described as ‘Britain’s most underrated living popstar”, Luke Haines is best known as the lead singer and driving force behind seminal band The Auteurs.
Haines formed The Auteurs with Alice Readman in 1990. In 1992 they released their debut album, New Wave, which is often cited as the album which launched Britpop. Haines and The Auteurs went on to have numerous hits throughout the 90s, their most famous being Lenny Valentino.
After leaving The Auteurs, Haines embarked on several projects, releasing a solo album titled Baader Meinhof in 1996 and going on to form the indie group Black Box Recorder in . Haines also recently received a nomination for a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for his score for the movie, Christie Malry s Own Double Entry
Since then, Haines has written and published two successful memoirs of his time in the music industry, Bad Vibes: Britpop and My Part in Its Downfall and more recently Post Everything: Outsider Rock and Roll
For this special Out to Lunch event Luke will be reading from his two critically acclaimed best selling books , Bad Vibes and Post Everything, and performing songs acoustically.
