Jump into a wild future where The Simpsonsand the pop culture of today becomes the mythology of tomorrow in this unexpected, musical love-letter to the power of live theatre.
Critics have praised playwright Anne Washburn's innovative writing: "When was the last time you met a new play that was so smart it made your head spin? ...Washburn's downright brilliant Mr. Burns, a post-electric play has arrived to leave you dizzy with the scope and dazzle of its ideas" - Ben Brantley, New York Times. In the New York Post, Elisabeth Vincentelli hailed the play as "bizarre, funny, wonderful" and "one of the most affecting tributes to theater and tenacity you're likely to see all year." Critics have applauded a play that honors The Simpsons and its beloved status in pop culture while also offering "a wisdom-laced illustration of the basic human need for stories; and a diabolically inventive game of telephone" - Peter Marks, The Washington Post. It's a one-of-a-kind experience that is "both scary and sweet, funny but dead serious, unique and wonderfully theatrical" - Richard Zoglin, Time Magazine.
