Theatre for Young America is presenting a new collection of "three" stories, TRIPLE PLAY TWO!, on tour this spring to area schools and daycare centers, as well as at the Wonderscope Children's Museum, 5700 King St., Shawnee, KS. The early childhood play will be on tour from February 19 thru May, 2015. TRIPLE PLAY TWO! is a live musical show geared for the youngest theatre-goers aged 2 and up. TRIPLE PLAY ONE, which includes stories of The Three Bears, The Three Pigs and The Little Kittens, has been popular with early childhood programs since 2007. It is also still available for touring.

Featured in TRIPLE PLAY TWO! are Theatre for Young America favorites: Hannah Freeman, Wil Andrews-Weiss, Eric Van Horn, Mosha Clyma, and Kelsea Victoria McLean. Valerie Mackey, Artistic Director, is directing and designing the production. Eric Van Horn stage manages.

The play is comprised of three tales adapted by Gene Mackey: "The Three Rabbits: Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail;" "The Three Billy Goats Gruff;" and a lesser known nursery rhyme "The Three Little Fishies." The first tale comes from Beatrix Potter's books about Peter Rabbit and his family. The music for this story is by Rita Lovett. The second tale of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" is based on the very Old Norse tale of brother goats and a troll who lived under the bridge. The music for this story is by Molly Jessup. The third story of "Three Little Fishies" is based on an American Southern nursery rhyme that includes both English language and pretend nonsensical "fish" talk. THE LITTLE FISHIES record was the number one hit record of 1939 inAmerica as recorded by the Kay Kyser orchestra.

The program which promotes early reading readiness is funded in part by the MISSOURI ARTS COMMISSION and ARTSKC. The play is available for tour throughout March, April, and May, 2015. Theatre for Young America is a professional not-for-profit theatre and school for young people and has been serving the greaterKansas City metropolitan area since 1974.
