Fresh from celebrating its 40th anniversary of providing quality children's programming to Kansas City's young people on October 4th with a spectacular gala, Theatre for Young America opens its 41st season with a favorite children's tale, The Adventures of Nate the Great. The play will run from October 21 through November 15, 2014 on the H&R Block City Stage, on level B in Union Station. Union Station is located at 30 W. Pershing Road in Kansas City,Missouri 64108.
Pamela Sterling, former Coterie Artistic Director, adapted this comic mystery from the famous Nate the Great series of books by award-winning writer Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. As Nate dons a trench coat and a Sherlock Holmes hat to investigate mysteries, his adventures are depicted in a film noir style, complete with a jazz music background. Nate's trusty dog Sludge and his friend Rosamond team up with Nate to use their brains and problem-solving skills to find all the answers to children's most pressing questions. But even as "the greatest kid detective" solves important cases, he always remembers to leave a note for this mother and to wear his galoshes.
Valerie M. Mackey directs this adventurous tale. The cast includes: Wil Andrews-Weiss, Adrian Foster, Hannah Freeman, Mia Hedgpeth-Guerra, Sara Kennedy,
Evan Lovelace, Parry Luellen, and Alexandria Washington. Xanda Pilley stage manages.
