Music, lights - action! The holidays will come alive this Saturday, November 19th, at Union Station with a day-long celebration continuing Kansas City's grandest start to a season of family, friends and breathtaking traditions.

Beginning at 10 am, FREE hands-on family friendly activities and entertainment fill the entire day:

  • EnJoy Song and dance groups on the community stage - all day!
  • Welcome "The People's Tree" as it makes its way to the U.S Capitol in Washington D.C. Take a photo with the 80ft Engelmann Spruce Tree and learn about our National Forests from 4:30-6:30 pm
  • Watch "Let it Snow" playing in the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium (ticket required)
  • Make-and-Race Nerdy Derby and other Maker Activities -10 am to 4 pm
  • Show off your holiday original with Free Face Painting and Balloon Artistry
  • Write a Letter to Santa in our "Letters To Santa" Wonderland
  • Witness KC's largest indoor holiday lighting in KC's most historic venue
  • Marvel at the trees, the trains and the endless decorations that make the Station absolutely magical
  • Kiss your loved ones under the historic clock during Kiss Under the Clock Noon to 4 pm
  • Be amazed by Quixotic - last year the creative geniuses behind this highly acclaimed performance troupe left the crowd in awe. This years reimagination of Holidays Come Alive! will not only be bigger, but also soar higher, with both aerialists and high wire walkers who will balance above the crowd and perform in front Union Station's enormous ceiling clock. Indeed, a celebration not be missed!

And your little ones will definitely want to climb aboard the Station's historic ride-on train immediately following the Quixotic performance. It's FREE until 9:00 pm. (The train -- which generations of Kansas Citians visited during holiday seasons at the downtown Jones Store -- is restored back to its original glory at Union Station. Riders must be less than 48" tall - approximately 5 - 6 years of age and under.)

Other ticketed attractions at Union Station will also be open and welcoming you and your family to this special day of celebration. They include:

  • Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre - Featuring "Trolls" by Dreamworks plus "Extreme Weather 3D" on the largest movie screen in the region
  • Science City - Where we have FUN down to a science
  • Planetarium - Featuring "Let It Snow," "Back To The Moon For Good" and more
  • Grand Opening Weekend of "POMPEII: The Exhibition" Presented by Bank of America - travel back in time to 79 AD to experience ancient Italy and the force and fury of Mount Vesuvius as an entire city and its' citizens are frozen in time and lost forever . . . until now!
