The Carnegie Arts Center will be exhibiting the work of artist Martin Leo Pyle through December and part of January. The exhibition titled "The Portrait Show" will feature a variety of brilliantly rendered portraits.
Martin Leo Pyle grew up in Kansas City, Missouri in a large family of ten. Pyle has always enjoyed art, and as a budding artist had the opportunity to take several art enrichment classes at the Kansas City Art Institute. He later attended Avila University in Kansas City and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Kansas.
Pyle is a prolific artist, with many of his pieces in private collections throughout the Midwest. Originally a painter, Pyle began to explore sculpture in 2007. He found that his experience in figurative and portrait painting exceptionally helpful in learning his new art form. Pyle's talents as a sculptor were quickly recognized, and he was commissioned to create a variety of sculpture portraits. One of these commissions was from the city of Leavenworth to create the statue of Abraham Lincoln that will be unveiled in early December.
Please join us for the opening reception of "The Portrait Show" on Friday, December 4, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
