For its 59th consecutive season the Barn Players, the city's largest, oldest and most renowned community theatre, will present a summer musical as a special fund-raising benefit for its season productions, Barn Junior and Barn Kids activities and for various operational needs. The Barn Players is a 501-3-c not-for-profit organization.
Unique this season the evening will feature the award winning, off-Broadway, musical review "CLOSER THAN EVER", a show that features some 25 songs dealing with security, aging, happiness, marriage and love all in smartly crafted lyrics and melodies "CLOSER THAN EVER" is directed by the Barn Player's Martha Risser, staging by Rob Reeder and features Kevin Bogan, JC Dresslaer, John Edmonds, Cara Hampton, Rebecca Johnston, Brian King, Mark Murphy, Rob Reeder, Laura Roose, Ali Watson and Gary Wesche. The show is rated PG-13.
The musical benefit will be presented in three special performances at the Barn Players, 6219 Martway in Mission, Kansas, Friday, August 15th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 17th at 2:00 and will include a sale of premiere jewelry - tickets are $25.00 for each performance.
Saturday evening, August 16th, begins with a pre-show reception, a food buffet (with food from Outback Steak House, Runza and Classic Catering), a wine bar and a silent auction, doors open at 6:30, show at 7:30. Silent auction items will include theatre and event tickets, sports game tickets, special items, Barn Theatre seasonal Flex Passes and a walk-on part in a Barn Players show! Tickets for Saturday evening are $50.00 each.
