AUDITIONS!

FROST
NIXON
By Peter Morgan

Directed by Shelly Stewart
AUDITIONS:
Saturday, January 22nd from Noon - 4pm
Sunday, January 23rd from Noon - 4pm
At St. Pius School
55th and Woodson, Mission, KS
EXPECTATION and PREPARATION:
Prepare: There will be cold readings from the script. Please be familiar with the script. Bring: Resume and headshot if available. Bring all known conflicts from April 24-June 26. Accents: Evonne Goolagong is Australian. David Frost, John Birt, and Caroline Cushing are British. The director would like to hear an attempt at these accents.

Regarding Nixon: While the age of Richard Nixon is mid 60s in the script, actors in their 40s/50s are encouraged to audition. The director is more concerned with having an actor portray the depth of the man for two hours - his age and look can be handled with hair/makeup/costume. The director is not looking for a Nixon impersonator, but for someone who can give a solid interpretation of the man in this moment in time. For all roles: Don't get hung up on the ages listed. They are simply a guide. If it says mid 30s and you're mid 40s, let the director decide if you're age appropriate.
Rehearsals begin near the end of April or early May and will run Sun. - Thur. evenings.

PRODUCTION DATES:
June 10th - 26th, 2011
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm
Sundays at 2:00pm

All performances take place at
The Barn Players Theatre, 6219 Martway in Mission, KS

SYNOPSIS:
British talk-show host David Frost has become a lowbrow laughing-stock. Richard M. Nixon has just resigned the United States presidency in total disgrace over Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. Determined to resurrect his career, Frost risks everything on a series of in-depth interviews in order to extract an apology from Nixon. The cagey Nixon, however, is equally bent on redeeming himself in his nation's eyes. In the television age, image is king, and both men are desperate to outtalk and upstage each other as the cameras roll. The result is the interview that sealed a president's legacy.
