Stephen Sondheim: "If I were asked to name the show that comes the closest to my expectations for it, the answer would be ASSASSINS. Certainly, John Weidman's book does... As far as I'm concerned, the show is perfect. Immodest that may sound, but I'm ready to argue it with anybody." (Look, I Made a Hat. Alfred A. Knopf, 2011.)

Widely considered the most controversial musical ever written, ASSASSINS premiered off-Broadway in 1990 at Playwrights Horizons and won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. This is a unique vision of American history told through imagined interactions between antiheroes from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald...from Charles Guiteau to John Hinckley. ASSASSINS is recommended for mature audiences.

Director Michael Grayman-Parkhurst has assembled an 18-member cast that includes Jerry Jay Cranford (Broadway's Les Miserables and Spinning Tree's Hello Again) as John Wilkes Booth, Julie Shaw (Off-Broadway's Lucky Duck and Spinning Tree's Fiddler on the Roof, Violet) as Sara Jane Moore, Steven Eubank (Spinning Tree's Hello Again) as Giuseppe Zangara and Liz Golson (Spinning Tree's A Little Night Music) as Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme. The 8-piece orchestra is led by Music Director Gary Green.

The 2017-2018 season will feature the 2004 Irish Repertory Theatre version of the classic musical FINIAN'S RAINBOW; the Kansas City premiere of Harvey Fierstein's 2014 Broadway play CASA VALENTINA starring Victor Raider-Wexler, John Rensenhouse and Jan Rogge; the Kansas City premiere of FULL GALLOP starring Cheryl Weaver as Diana Vreeland; and the Lynn Ahrens/Stephen Flaherty hit musical ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. Spinning Tree Theatre produces works that aim to celebrate and reflect the diversity of Kansas City.

ASSASSINS, a Spinning Tree Theatre production, plays May 24 - June 11, 2017 at Just Off Broadway, 3051 Central in Kansas City, Missouri. Tickets and performance schedule available by calling Central Ticket Office (816) 235-6222 or at www.spinningtreetheatre.com.
