Spinning Tree Theatre announces the 3rd Annual Guild Scholarship, sponsored by the company's Guild and administered by the Artistic Committee. In keeping with their mission of educational development in the live theatre arts, Spinning Tree created this scholarship fund in 2017 to assist area high school seniors in pursuing higher education. The 2019 award is a one-time $1,000 scholarship.
To be considered, an applicant must be a current high school senior residing in the Kansas City metropolitan area planning to attend college in the fall of 2019 with the goal of pursuing a degree and career in acting or musical theatre. The recipient will perform in Spinning Tree Sings! on May 11 at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center.
Co-Founder and Managing Director Andrew Grayman-Parkhurst: "We're thrilled to be able to offer this scholarship for a third year, thanks to the generosity and talent of our Guild and Artistic Committee. We are committed to investing in young artists, and our Guild Scholarship allows us the opportunity to support an emerging artist in a specific, spotlighted way."
Scholarship requirements and application are available at www.spinningtreetheatre.com. Applicants have until March 18, 2019 to submit materials.
Spinning Tree's Artistic Committee consists of an array of Kansas City's leading theatre artists and educators: Pamela Baskin-Watson, Robert Gibby Brand, Nedra Dixon, Nancy Marcy, Michelle Tyrene Johnson, Julie Shaw, Ryan Tucker and Vigthor Zophoniasson.
