Zombies invade the bucolic setting of Mayberry U.S.A. for the next live performance of Right Between the Ears. The nationally broadcast comedy show will present its first-ever Halloween show at Lawrence's Liberty Hall on Saturday, October 30 at 8:00pm.
RBTE CastBesides Andy and Barney battling an army of the undead, the Halloween show also includes killer alien blobs attacking the part-time security cops of Neighborhood Watch and vampire slayers who struggle to balance a career with the need to occasionally "stake out" the occasional bloodsucker.
Among other take-offs and put-ons: marble-mouthed sportscaster Lou Holtz interviews Donald Duck (it's a tossup to see which one is more incomprehensible); the redneck stars of Fishing with Dwayne explore the possibilities of fishing with dynamite; Toby, the Out of Control Cowboy deals with a personal hygiene problem; and it's a battle of accents when The Most Interesting Man in the World (from TV's Dos Equis commercials) guests on The Antonio Banderas Show. The show also features spoofs of Nancy Grace, George W. Bush's new memoir, the Obama White House and more still-to-be-written comedy gems.
For the second year in a row, RBTE's fall opener includes guest appearances by students from the summer radioMaggie and Henry camps for kids, taught each year by RBTE cast and crew. Henry Cannon, 12, and Maggie Hutchison, 13, are making their second appearance on the show, with newcomer Camille O'Leary, 14, a freshman at the Barstow School, making her RBTE debut. All three will appear in various sketches during the show and assist with live sound effects.
CamilleThe week-long radio camps, presented in cooperation with Kansas City Young Audiences since 2004, introduce students to the history of radio theatre, acting for the microphone and sound effects, plus provide opportunities to perform in a radio-style comedy show for friends and family.
Tickets for the October 30 RBTE show range from $15.50 to $19.50 and are on sale now at the Liberty Hall box office and at the show's website, www.RightBetweentheEars.com.
