It's "over and out" for Right Between the Ears. After 30+ years of live shows, the award-winning sketch comedy series will present its last-ever show on Saturday, November 18 at 8:00pm at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS.
"After 32 years, it's just time to bring down the curtain," said RBTE creator and producer Darrell Brogdon. "We've had an absolute blast doing the show all these years but sometimes you have to make space so you can move on to other things."
Originally known as The Imagination Workshop, the series began in 1985 with live broadcasts from the old Lawrence Arts Center. In 1993 the show moved to Liberty Hall and was eventually re-christened Right Between the Ears.
During its 30+ years on the air, RBTE has been broadcast on National Public Radio, the BBC and Sirius-XM, as well as on Kansas Public Radio stations. RBTE is a four-time winner of the Gold Medal as Best Comedy Show at the New York Festivals, twice grabbing the Festival's Grand Prize for Entertainment Programming.
For the series finale on November 18, RBTE will reprise a few favorite bits from past shows, along with plenty of topical take-offs and satirical songs for the holiday season. Former cast members are flying in for the finale, according to Brogdon.
Tickets for Right Between the Ears are on sale now at Ticketmaster and the Liberty Hall box office. For more information, visit the RBTE website at http://www.rightbetweentheears.com.
