Music Theatre Kansas City's professional company will present the Kansas City Premiere of "All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, " the true story of a group of World War I soldiers who chose to step out of the trenches and come together to celebrate Christmas for a single, memorable night of peace. It is their story told entirely through their words and their songs, featuring an 8-piece a cappella mens choir.

Originally created and presented by Theater Latté Da in Minneapolis, All is Calm is an extremely unique work of historical theater, telling the story of the famous 1914 Christmas Truce through soldier's actual letters, journal entries and reports. It features folk songs, Christmas carols and wartime classics, ranging from "Keep the Homefires Burning" and "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" to "Auld Lang Syne" and, of course, "Silent Night." The show includes actors portraying all of the British, German, Irish and Scottish soldiers as well as singing in an a cappella choral ensemble, weaving music in and out of the story throughout the riveting 85-minute piece. It presents the much-needed lesson - "that which joins us is greater than that which separates us."
