Kansas City's Crown Center- an entertainment attraction with specialty shopping, concerts, theaters, and other entertainment venues- has released its schedule of events for February - November 2010.

An ongoing event that the Crown Center will present is its Fountain Water Shows in Crown Center Square. The famous Crown Center Square Fountain dances to famous tunes. Programmed by the company behind the renowned Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, Crown Center's fountain is synchronized to music specially recorded for Crown Center by members of the Kansas City Symphony. The show schedule is weekday shows at noon and on the hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend shows on the hour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is also a 10 p.m. show on Friday and Saturday.

From January 8 - February 21 the American Heartland Theatre, located in the Crown Center Shops on level 3, will show GLORIOUS!- A TRUE STORY ABOUT THE WORLD'S WORST SINGER. The musical is based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, an eager but hopelessly inept American soprano, who built a whole career out of unintentionally butchering beautiful music. At the pinnacle of her improbable fame, she even charmed real artists like Cole Porter, who may have admired her chutzpah as much as they relished the sheer ludicrousness of her performances. For more information or to order tickets, call 816-842-9999 or visit AHTKC.com.

The American Heartland Theatre will present other shows throughout the year- including I LLOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE (March 12-April 25) and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTRY SPELLING BEE (July 9-August 22).

On February 27 kids can go to the Crown Center Ice Terrace to skate with Clifford the Big Red Dog from 10 am to 1 pm. Admission and skate rental fees during that time are donated to KCPT. Regular admission is $6, or complimentary for those over age 60 and children age four and under. Skate rental is $3, or skaters may bring their own.

The Coterie Theatre , located in the Crown Center Shops on Level 1 will also produce a number of shows. From April 6-May 16 FRINDLE, based on Andrew Clements' award-winning book, will play. The ingenious Nick gets his best idea ever when a teacher explains how words end up in the dictionary. He creates his own word...frindle, and gets other kids to use it. A buzz ensues all over school and town. But, a fierce power struggle develops between him and the teacher over his made-up word! For more information or to order tickets, call 816-474-6552 or visit CoterieTheatre.org.

From April 28-29 the Coterie Theatre will host a Young Playwrights Festival which features a collection of new work by the city's best young writers. The rich and varied theatrical writings which emerge from a year-long process are forged into an ambitious festival of script-in-hand stagings utilizing professional actors.

The Crown Center will put on many other events throughout the year. For more information and the full calendar- visit them online at www.crowncenter.com.
