Charlotte Street Foundation's Urban Culture Project is thrilled to host Let's Paint TV, a live internet television show starring Los Angeles-based artist and cult phenomenon John Kilduff, aka Mr. Let's Paint TV. Let's Paint TV-Kansas City will be taped and broadcast live from Urban Culture Project Space, 21 East 12th Street KC MO, daily for one week, 6 to 7pm, November 17-24, 2009.
Begun as a public access television show in Los Angeles and now a YouTube sensation, Let's Paint TV stars John Kilduff, who paints, blends drinks, answers phone calls, and completes a variety of other tasks (titles of past shows include "Let's Paint the Tinman and Perform Open Heart Surgery," and "Let's Paint, Exercise, Play the Ukulele, and Make a BLT," for example) -- all while wearing a suit and running on a treadmill. The show is at first a "how to paint," "how to cook," "how to exercise" play-by-play interview television show, but Kilduff quickly escalates to a fever-pitched, multitasking, motivational speaker, encouraging everyone to get their creative juices flowing...and not to be afraid to fail!
The public is invited to attend and participate in Let' Paint TV at Urban
Culture Project Space. UCP and Kilduff are currently seeking chefs, musicians, performers, visual artists, local celebrities, politicians, personal trainers, and others with skills, talents, and enthusiasm who would like to appear as guests on the show. In addition, Kilduff will paint portraits of and otherwise interact with members of the audience. Among Kilduff's special endeavors planned for the show will be the preparation of a Thanksgiving holiday dinner. Donations of food, canvases, and other supplies are welcome. Parties interested in appearing on the show or donating materials should email info@charlottestreet.org.
Let' s Paint TV-Kansas City will be the final - and longest - stop on the "Embrace Failare World Tour 09," which has included Let's Paint TV shows in St. Paul, Minnesota; Brooklyn, New York; Toronto, Ontario; and Sydney, New Castle, Canberra, and Melbourne, Australia. The studio, paintings and other by-products of the show, as well as video from the live filmings, will remain on view at Urban
Culture Project Space through January 2, 2010. Regular gallery hours are Thursdays & Saturdays, noon to 5pm.
