The 2012 Tony Award Nominee for Best Play and Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist, Other Desert Cities, comes to the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City tonight, March 5 through 30. Saturday March 8 is opening night of the play directed by Sidonie Garrett. She has previously directed numerous plays at the Unicorn Theatre, The Coterie, and American Heartland Theatre among others.

Other Desert Cities written by Jon Robin Baitz opened Off-Broadway in January of 2011 and in November of that year on Broadway. Set in 2004 in Palm Springs, California where Brooke Wyeth returns home, after a six-year absence, for the holidays, with exciting news. At home are her parents, her brother, a Reality TV actor, old-school republicans, and her aunt (who is coping with addictions).

Cinnamon Schultz returns to the Unicorn Theatre in the starring role of Brooke Wyeth. Her exciting news that she is publishing a memoir exposing past family events and history puts the festivities on hold. She last appeared at the Unicorn in a co-production with the Kansas City Actors Theatre in God of Carnage. She has appeared at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, The Coterie Theatre, and Theatre for Young America among other Kansas City theater groups.

Returning to the Unicorn is Merle Moores who plays Polly Wyeth. Previously at the Unicorn she performed in Faith Healer, The Clean House, Angels in America Parts I and II, and Retreat From Moscow among others. She has appeared with the Kansas City Repertory Theatre in Death of a Salesman, August: Osage County, The Seagull, Hamlet, and their recent production of Romeo and Juliet. She has also appeared with the Kansas City Actors Theatre and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.

Jake Walker made his debut at the Unicorn in the 2001 production of Fuddy Meers and returns in the role of Trip Wyeth. He returns to Kansas City after being involved in Denver with the Curious Theatre, Denver Center Theatre Company, Creede Rep., and the Arvada Center. He works with Sidonie Garrett in this ninth show.

Returning to the Unicorn Theatre, Jan Rogge plays Silda Grauman. She last appeared at the Unicorn a co-production with Kansas City Actors Theatre Good People, and has previously appeared in Miss Witherspoon, The Clean House, Bug, and Marvin's Room among others. She has appeared on the stages of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, American Heartland Theatre, and Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre among others.

Rounding out the cast is Jim Korinke who takes on the role of Lyman Wyeth. Korinke has recently appeared with Dyan Cannon in The Fox on the Fairway, at the New Theatre Restaurant.
