BWW Previews: JEKYLL AND HYDE THE MUSICAL Coming to the Just Off Broadway Theatre, 2/28

With songs such as "Lost in the Darkness," "Take Me As I Am," and "Murder, Murder" Jekyll and Hyde the Musical comes to life on the stage of the Just Off Broadway Theatre in Kansas City. Produced by She and Her Productions and directed by Tiffany Schweigert the show is scheduled to run from February 28 through March 16.

Based on the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson the musical was conceived by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden. Musical Director Jim Vinkenberg conducts the music written by Wildhorn and lyrics by Wildhorn, Bricusse (who wrote the book based on the musical), and Cuden. Leah Swank Miller designs choreography for the She and Her Productions.

The musical opened on Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre on March 21, 1997 closing after 1,543 regular performances. Wildhorn's play received four nomination for Tony Awards, won the Theatre World Award, won two Drama Desk Awards and nominated for a third, and received nominations for six Outer Critics Circle Awards winning for Best Leading Actor.

Alex Bigus plays the leading role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. He has previously appeared in Les Miserables, Songs for a New World, Bat Boy, Man and Superman, and The Women of Lockerbie among others.

Katie Meador, who makes her third appearance at She and Her Productions, plays Jekyll's fiancé Emma Carew. Previously she has appeared in Ordinary Days and The Last Five Years as part of the Barn Players Benefit.

Kelsie Clark makes her debut at She and Her Productions portraying Lucy Harris, the main attraction at The Red Rat. She has appeared in Guys and Dolls, The Shape of Things, Little Women, The Imaginary Invalid and School House Rock Live among others. She will be directing music for The Culture House production of West Side Story in April.

Other cast members include Chris Gleeson as John Utterson, Jekyll's attorney and friend, Andy Perkins as Simon Stride, Jekyll's rival for Emma's affection, Dennis Maddux as Sir Danvers Carew, Emma's father and Chairman of the Board of Governors, and Vicki Kerns as Nellie Manageress, "The Red Rat" among others.
