Songs, Scenes, and Stories: 40 Years of OCTA, the Olathe Civic Theatre Association benefit celebrates a rich theater history. OCTA celebrates 40 years of live theater in Olathe for three performances running from October 3 through 5 at the theatre located at 500 E. Loula Street in Olathe, Kan.
Selections from the past 40 years for the special benefit performances include musicals, dramas, and comedies, along with memories from longtime patrons, performers, and volunteers. Guests will enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and beverages as well as a silent auction on Friday and Saturday nights.
Rebekah Grieb and Ted Collins direct Songs, Scenes, and Stories: 40 Years of OCTA. Written and hosted by Shelly Stewart Banks and Peter Leondedis the benefit performances feature Erica Baruth, Michael Bunn, Kelsie Clark, Vicky DeLaughder, James Levy, Carrie Lenahan, Laura Roose, and special guests. Music Director Michelle Allen McIntire, Wen Zhang, and Andy Massey will provide the music.
"This theater is a hidden gem and the goal of this benefit is to showcase just how long we've been doing what we do," Peter Leondedis, vice president of the OCTA board said, "We are a home for some of Kansas City's best talent to direct, create, and perform and we look forward to a sustainable future where we can continue our traditions and bring new work to the stage."
Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $15 for OCTA season ticket holders. Purchase tickets at the Olathe Civic Theatre Association website.
