Tulsa Ballet, one of the premiere ballet companies in America located in the heart of the Midwest, is looking for an energetic and focused individual for the position of Wardrobe/Stock Supervisor, Lead Stitcher. This position requires a driven and passionate professional with strong communication and organizational skills, a working knowledge of costume maintenance and cleaning, and excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
Wardrobe/Stock Supervisor duties include but not limited to:
• Oversees the vast collection of costumes including their organization, tracking, show inventories.
• Direct communication with the Costume Shop Manager for floor and laundry facility use as needed including shop time for repairs.
• The cleaning, organizing, and restock of any production done by Tulsa Ballet or the Center for Dance Education
• Communication and oversight of our Dry-Cleaning services making sure items are picked and dropped off at the appropriate time.
• Oversees the development of run paperwork with assistance from the Director of Costumes
• Oversees the wardrobe run crew for all Tulsa Ballet rehearsals and performances
Lead Stitcher job duties include by not limited to:
• Completes projects as assigned by the Costume Shop Manager.
• Assists with alterations and preparation of costumes as instructed by the Shop Manager.
• Works with other departments with as needed repairs that fall outside of the costume
world.
• Receive complicated alterations for dancewear to either oversee staff or complete in a timely manner.
Required qualifications and skils:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Costume Construction and technology with a professional shop.
• Understanding and knowledge of textiles and fabrics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines.
• Be detail orientated and self-motivated.
• Able to walk up 2 flights of stairs.
• Experience with domestic and industrial sewing machines and sergers.
• Completion of projects within the time frame given by the Costume Shop Manager.
• Mandatory attendance to all dress rehearsals and performances.
• Availability to work night and weekends.
• Ability to oversee or organize groups of over hire/ volunteers with varying personalities
and experience levels.
• Able to follow direction, completing projects in a timely efficient manner.
