JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Event Services, the Volunteer Manager is responsible for managing the Volunteers of the MPAC to ensure the smooth operation of the Event Services Department.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Administrative & Clerical Duties

• Recruit, interview, select, train, schedule, and supervise the Volunteers to provide optimal ushering services and support services.

• Manage, and maintain, a corps of volunteers large enough to meet the staffing requirements of the MPAC and First Stage.

• Distribute the MPAC’s racial equity, diversity, and inclusion goals to persons interested in joining the volunteer team, in advance, as a standard procedure of the volunteer application process. Discusses the MPAC’s racial equity, diversity, and inclusion goals when interviewing candidates for Volunteer positions as a standard procedure.

• Presents the MPAC’s racial equity, diversity, and inclusion educational curriculum to all new volunteers, as a standard procedure of the orientation/training process.

• Ensure safety of patrons by enforcing MPAC’s COVID-19 Safety Plan and all safety protocols.

• Communicate regularly with the Event Services Director, and the Administrative Associate, to ensure that we are scheduling an adequate number of Volunteers per performance/event to meet staffing requirements.

• Utilize Better Impact to communicate and schedule Volunteers and to produce rosters for each performance/event for the Theater Managers/House Managers to refer to. Trains Volunteers on how to use the software to create their schedule.

• Select Volunteers to serve at ticket scanning locations and informs the Administrative Associate, and the Theater Managers/House Managers, of the candidates.

• Select Volunteers to serve as Tour Guides and trains them to provide optimal customer service, when necessary.

• Track Volunteer punctuality and attendance.

• Ensure that the Volunteers are providing services of the highest quality to our customers.

• Evaluate the performance of the Volunteers by leading, directing, coaching, , and recognizing the volunteers as required and deserved. Advise the Director of Event Services of performance issues. Address Volunteer service/behavior issues accordingly.

• Plan and coordinate Volunteer recognition events.

• Update the Volunteer Usher Manual and roster of Volunteers, as necessary.

• Track Volunteer hours annually for reporting purposes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.



Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months to 1 year of previous public contact experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated attention to detail in face paced environment.

• Team oriented.

• Advanced oral and written communication skills.

• Outstanding organization skills. .

• Ability to work independently and to establish, monitor, and achieve goals with minimal supervision

• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Gather an analyze information skillfully.

• Excellent knowledge of computer software systems such as Microsoft Outlook, VenueOps, Better Impact, Word and Excel.

• Ability to be appreciative of multiple diverse perspectives, and a commitment to the organization’s initiatives regarding diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.



Other Skills and Abilities

• Understanding the seat section identification, seat numbering, and floor plans of the theaters.

• A general understanding of the Emergency Response Plan and providing the Volunteers with general instruction about the actions they are to take in an emergency as part of their training and development.
