Virginia Repertory Theatre is seeking professional performers for its touring productions of Hugs and Kisses and Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
The touring season runs from late August to early June with four to eight tours on the road each semester. We travel extensively in our home state of Virginia and throughout most of the United States.
Virginia Rep on Tour is full-time employment during the course of the contract.
Pay: $480/wk.
Contract Dates for Hugs and Kisses (fall semester): 8/28/23 - 12/16/23
Contract Dates for Hugs and Kisses (spring semester): 1/16/24-5/18/24
Contract Dates for Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad (spring semester): 1/2/24-4/6/24
Transportation costs while on tour, including all hotels, are arranged and paid for by Virginia Rep. Many tours have consecutive weeks of travel while others are mostly comprised of day-trips. Company housing available in Richmond for non local artists.
Tour actors are expected to perform, serve as crew, and share the driving of the Virginia Rep Van.
We will follow all CDC guidelines and safety precautions during rehearsals and performances.
All cast members must be vaccinated against Covid-19. You will need to show proof of vaccination before rehearsals begin.

This enjoyable, award-winning musical introduces the concepts of good touch/bad/touch/secret touch to elementary school students in a sensitive and age appropriate manner. It is proven to teach personal safety across all grade levels and helps children continue to have a happy and safe childhood or helps to return them to one. Performers cast in Hugs and Kisses will receive specialized training from Families Forward Virginia
Seeking actors to play the following roles:
Katie - To play a young girl, excited for the summer musical. Has noticed that something is up with Jemma, and writes it off as Jemma being weird.
Michael/Hugs - To play a young boy, very excited for the summer musical. Concerned about Jemma, but unsure what to do.
Jemma/Hugs - To play a young girl going through a difficult time at home that she isn't quite sure how to explain to her friends or what to do about it.
Jacob - To play a young boy also working on the summer musical. Kind and curious about what is bothering Jemma, but doesn't want to pry.
Mrs. Crenshaw/Hugs - Could be any gender. Teacher. Can recognize signs of what may be bothering Jemma and teaches the kids about secret touching, the right to say no, and to tell a trusted adult.

As Harriet and her friend Sarah Bradford narrate her adventurous life; we share in the joys, sorrows, and challenges faced by this brave woman who changed the world through her courage. This accurate and deeply moving musical history lesson is at turns inspiring, heart-warming, and comical, full of the good humor, determination and the charity of its subject. Students will find a new appreciation for Harriet Tubman and a deeper understanding of her times.
Seeking an actor to play the following role:
Harriet Tubman - African American. Female Identifying. To play Harriet at various stages throughout her life.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
