Theatre Internship Program - Colonial Theatre School, Inc.

The Colonial Theatre, Rhode Island’s Premier Outdoor Theatre, seeks high school- and college-aged candidates to be a part of our paid Theatre Internship Program, which will take place surrounding our Summer 2022 production of Waiting for Godot in Westerly, RI. Our 2022 season will run from early July through the middle of August. High School (16 and up) and College Aged candidates are encouraged, but this program is open to all ages.



The internship program for The Colonial Theatre is an immersive, generalist program. Interns will participate in an educational experience with exposure and hands on interaction with all facets of a production. Interns will participate in the creation of a professional theatre production in Westerly’s historic Wilcox Park, the Colonial’s Summer Home, with direct exposure to the process of scenic, lighting, audio, and properties construction as well as Production, Stage, and Company Management in a cornerstone arts event with deep roots in the Westerly community.



Artistically, Interns will have the opportunity for educational experiences with members of the Equity Acting Company and professional theatrical designers. The program’s curriculum is a combination of hands-on exposure and classroom settings of workshops, talk backs, and master classes.



Ideal candidates will be open to all theatrical experiences and interested in the organic process of a unified production coming together from disparate pieces. Excitement about the craft in all its forms is a must. This internship is an excellent opportunity for a first summer experience and an ideal introduction to the structure of theatre.
