Technical Theater Manager - Temporary
The Technical Theater Manager position is responsible for managing Rattlestick in-person productions as well as online streaming, and venue maintenance, and is the liaison for all rentals. This position will work directly with the Managing Director and Artistic Director to ensure that we adhere to all COVID protocols. In addition, Rattlestick is committed to producing work that is environmentally conscious and this position would actively move the company toward implementing Green Theater practices.
Job Responsibilities:
In-Person Production Oversight:
· Hiring tech staff to maintain the theater’s sound, lighting, and other facility needs.
· Ensure that all Rattlestick equipment is in good working order and well-maintained, and the inventory list is accurate.
· Create and maintain venue calendars; maintain important dates spreadsheets for all shows/events
· Act as the key point of contact for all production personnel’s questions and needs. l
· Scheduling and coordinating the rental of sound equipment, lighting equipment, and other venue equipment.
· Supervising the operations of events and tending to any incidents or queries
· Communicating and enforcing all security regulations and protocols
· Manage the streaming technicians to live-stream performances in the theater and ensure to live-Stream online content with the appropriate platform
· Work with the Production Manager and designers to provide the appropriate gear to online performers
· Oversee the load-out of all theater equipment and inventory prior to renovation (scheduled for summer 2023).
Rental Oversight:
· Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate site visits with potential renters
· Coordinate outside rental technical requirements
· Provide technical support to special events and rentals as needed
· Serve as technical and facility contact for outside rentals
Facilities & Other Oversight
· Receive, prioritize, and act on all requests for maintenance and repair for the theatre facility and office spaces
· Request quotes on equipment repair and replacement and makes recommendations to Artistic Director and Managing Director regarding said repairs
· Ensuring that the venue and facilities are clean and organized with adequate supplies.
Skills:
· Knowledge of theatrical equipment - lighting and sound systems and technical theater
· Proficiency in the management of people
· Experience managing budgets and deadlines
· Attention to detail
· Stellar communication and negotiation skills
· Strong time management skills
· Strong knowledge of production budget and ability to work within the budget
· Able to be an independent team player
· Willingness to work long hours, and on weekends and holidays
· Have a valid Driver’s License and be comfortable driving in NYC
· Must have been fully vaccinated and have their booster dose of an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of such.
Salary:
$25-35/hour, 20 to 30 hours a week
This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt, on-site position and will demand work hours in the evenings and weekends. Start ASAP, and end on July 31st, 2023.
