Technical Director - Ignite Theatre Company

LISTING INFORMATION

Ignite Theatre Company is looking for a Technical Director for our 2023 season. Support the commitment to furthering youth theatre by the overall supervision of the scenic, paint, properties, audio, and lighting shops. The role of TD will oversee all scenic elements and budget. TD holds primary responsibility for coordinating all technical aspects of productions in the Ignite season, including set design, construction, load-in, maintenance, and strike of all production technical elements. TD will collaborate with all directors, designers, and the production manager to ensure the artistic vision of each production remains within the available resources of time, budget, and personnel.



Essential Functions:



Estimate material and labor needs for all productions based on the script, designer models, and production meetings.

Oversee, implement, maintain and ensure the smooth operation of the technical aspects of all productions for Ignite

Complete understanding of how all scenic pieces are used onstage and in offstage storage.

Select the best construction method and materials in collaboration with the designer.

Create and distribute construction drafting’s to staff.

Ensure staff are properly instructed on assembly processes.

Ensure timely and accurate budget reports.

Post and update volunteer schedules for each production load in/out.

Supervise Set Designer, Scenic Artist, Property Supervisor, Electrical Supervisor, Audio Supervisor, and staff.

Work with staff to create a safe, positive, and productive work environment. – Attend all design and production meetings.

Other Responsibilities:



Keep accurate inventory of company equipment for paint, scenic, electrics, properties, and audio shops.

Monitor and arrange for the repair and replacement of equipment within budget.

Complete notes and repairs for technical elements during the tech and the run of show.

Coordinate rentals as needed.

-Observe and enforce safety and security procedures.



Time requirement:



Participation in mutually agreeable production meetings and rehearsals with the production team throughout the production process.

Tech and show dates are non-negotiable. (Footloose 5/1- 5/14, Adams Family 6/5-6/18, Grease 7/29-8/6, Percy Jackson 11/20- 12/3)

*Please note, we are a nonprofit theatre and have limited financial resources. We offer a stipend to contractors and listed pay is negotiable. Pay will vary by production.



All applicants must be able to pass a background check and willing to go through mandatory training.
