Position: Technical Director
Term Dates: Starts June 13, Full-Time
Salary: $52,000 - $60,000
Responsibilities – Production
• Maintenance / establishment / development of procedures and systems for all aspects of production, including but not limited to schedule, scenery, costumes/wardrobe, lighting, sound, props, rehearsal, etc.
• Supervise and manage build / hang / install procedures and processes for all technical departments and serve as the technical liaison between technical/design personnel and management.
• Coordinate with other department heads to set up and manage the theatre space for load in, technical rehearsals, events, etc....
• Supervise production spaces and personnel, ensuring safe and efficient process are followed.
• Oversee and manage the building during all crew and work calls.
• Attend all production and design meetings.
• Works closely with and under the advisement of Producing Director, Artistic Director and General Manager with regard to budget and hiring. Assist in managing production purchasing and spending.
• Bid, negotiate, and supervise outside scene shops; lead scenic install; modifications; provide maintenance during show runs; build and/or source set pieces/props as necessary.
• Manage and maintain all production related paperwork and communications.
• Liaison with designers, crews, and other production staff to maintain an up to date and correct flow of communication.

• Oversee and coordinate load-out/disposal/returns.
• Oversee, coordinate and maintain storage facility onsite.
• Oversee and maintain theater inventory (ie: lighting, sound, etc…).
• Oversee and maintain a safe, orderly and clean theater and building at all times.
• Assist in developing crew needs for each production in connection with the creative teams, Artistic Director, Producing Director and General Manager. Hire, train and supervise crews.
• Oversee and coordinate load‐in and tech process for each show.
• Coordinate front of house needs with House Manager as required for productions and events.
• Provide production/technical support for education, new works programs and special events (ie: gala, Broadway Unplugged).
• Additional and related production, technical and facilities responsibilities not stated and as needed to keep the theater running smoothly and safely at all times.
Responsibilities – Building
• Coordinate and oversee day to day building maintenance (inside and outside) and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain a safe and clean facility.
• Have a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, IT, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain and create new relationships with key players including (but not limited to) the Town of Ridgefield, Fire Marshall, Trades, Theatrical Vendors, etc.
• Coordinate and oversee day to day building maintenance (inside and outside) and capital improvement projects.
• Conduct venue tours for potential outside rentals in connection other necessary management and prepare technical cost estimates; provide technical support for such rentals.
• Must be capable of lifting 40-50lbs and comfortable working on ladders.

• This is a full-time position where nights, weekends, early mornings are required from time to time (particularly while in load in, load out and production).

ACT of Connecticut, an AEA SPT Theater located in Ridgefield, CT presents 3-4 mainstage productions plus 3-5 smaller projects per season. ACT of CT runs a year- round education program, as well as a new works program in the summer. The theater opened in 2018 and is a 182-seat renovated Phillip Johnson building with a permanent turntable, mechanized roll drops, as well as in-house sound and lighting packages.
