Gulfshore Playhouse seeks a Music Director for Summer Conservatory
Gulfshore Playhouse, one of the nation’s finest regional theatres, located in Naples, FL, is seeking a dynamic, creative, and detail-oriented Music Director for our student Conservatory production of Seussical Jr. Employment is from July 1 - July 28. Join us at this exciting time, as we build our new, state-of-the-art theatre, and usher in a new era of professional theatre in Southwest Florida.
The Summer Conservatory Music Director reports directly to the Gulfshore Playhouse Director of Education and is responsible for ensuring the participating students have a successful, educational, and engaging experience.
Status: Full-time: July 1 - July 28, 2024
Dates & Times: Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm with performances July 26-28
Fee: $2,000 - $2,250 and includes housing.

Representative Duties:
Summer Music Director Key Responsibilities include:
Attending auditions, casting calls, and pre-production meetings; making decisions with regard to casting, designs, and other production matters as it relates to the vocal and musical direction of the Program; and making suggestions with regards to sound design;
Attending and running musical and vocal rehearsals for students aged 5-18, and providing complete musical and vocal integration for the Program and vocal coaching as needed;
Playing piano and/or other musical instruments/recorded tracks as needed to complete the musical direction during rehearsals;
Provide various morning workshops ot students focused on voice and music;
Regularly meeting and consulting with Director of Education, Producing Artistic Director, Director of Production, Designers, Managing Director, Stage Managers, and such other personnel as may be designated by Producer;
Rendering such other services as may reasonably be required by Producer as are customarily furnished by the Musical Director of a first-class theatrical production in the United States;
Communicate with and maintain a positive rapport with parents;
Assist in keeping facilities organized and ensuring the program areas are maintained for overall safety;
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of a wide range of musical styles and genres, especially those relevant to musical theatre.
Understanding of vocal techniques and the ability to teach and coach singers of varying skill levels.
Proficient accompaniment skills and capacity to lead and coordinate music rehearsals efficiently.
Strong organizational skills to manage sheet music, scores, and other musical resources.
Knowledge of theatrical production processes and the ability to collaborate with other creative and technical team members.
Adaptability to work within the constraints of a production schedule and meet deadlines.

Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field.
Previous experience as a music director for youth theatre productions.
Experience teaching music or conducting music-related workshops for students.
Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of working with young performers.
Experience providing vocal coaching and instruction to performers, especially those in the 5-18 age range.
Ability to teach proper vocal techniques and work with singers at various skill levels.
Genuine enthusiasm for working with young performers and fostering their love for musical theatre.
Dedication to creating a supportive and educational experience for all participants.
