Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced individual to serve as Sound Supervisor.
Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a $66M capital campaign and has broken ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the Sound Supervisor will have the opportunity to participate in it.
Status: Full time, year-round position
Start Date: January 2024
Representative Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Production, Sound Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of audio production as well as designing sound for Education productions. Sound Supervisor will oversee audio install into new theatre center.
Overseeing all sound elements, realizing sound designs as envisioned by the sound designers, directors, and Producing Artistic Director;
Coordinating all purchases, rentals, and borrows necessary for the realization of sound designs;
Analyzing the feasibility of all sound designs with regard to budget, physical and electrical limitations at the venue;
Working closely with Lighting Supervisor to mentor Lighting and Sound intern;
Working with venue staff to provide appropriate general sound access for events in shared space;
Overseeing/training staff of interns with varying levels of experience at load-in, technical rehearsals, and strike calls;
Wiring all permanent and rental speakers, and working with Technical Director and Properties Master to fully realize all practical elements;
Operating the sound board for performances and live mix sound for performances;
Maintaining sound inventory, instrument quality, and storage organization;
Acting as Sound Designer for Education performances within the season and during the summer;
Providing on-call coverage for any last-minute or emergency needs in the sound department;
Providing technical support for all special events or fundraisers;
Attending all staff meetings and other meetings as required;
Providing support for events as may be required by employer without additional compensation due, including but not limited to opening night celebrations, and the annual gala fundraiser;
In association with Director of Production, enforcing shop and theatre policies and upholding standard of safety regulations;
Providing services in a manner in accordance with the guidelines contained within Employer’s employee manual and style guide;
Rendering such other services as may reasonably be required by Employer and as are customarily furnished by a Sound Engineer at a first-class professional theatrical organization in the United States
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to ensure high-quality work. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. The Sound Supervisor will be expected to work extended hours when necessary to meet goals. Weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at Opening Nights and some show performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would possess:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and self-start tasks.
High proficiency in Qlab and Vectorworks
Understanding of a variety of audio consoles and equipment
Ability to live mix microphones for musicals
Ability to lift 75lbs
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at heights of up to 25ft
A level headed and empathetic approach to personnel management
Familiarity with lighting and video equipment, preferred

Salary: $50,000-$55,000 annually plus excellent benefits DOE
